Please Note: First register your child in a session on the active.com website. Then select and sign up for any swim test of your choosing. The course #s will not be the same.
WHO HAS TO TAKE THE SWIM TEST?
ALL NEW PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE AN ENCINITAS JUNIOR LIFEGUARD SWIM TEST. New participants are given a swim test to determine that they possess the minimum skills needed to safely benefit from the program.
RETURNING ENCINITAS JUNIOR GUARDS DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE SWIM TEST.

WHAT DOES THE SWIM TEST CONSIST OF?
Underwater Swim 10 Yards Ages: ALL
Tread Water 3 Minutes Ages: ALL
100 Yard Swim 2 Minutes 45 Seconds Ages: 9 - 10
100 Yard Swim 2 Minutes 30 Seconds Ages: 11 - 12
100 Yard Swim 2 Minutes 15 Seconds Ages: 13 - 17
WHAT IF I FAIL THE SWIM TEST?
If you participate in a swim test before the start of your Junior Lifeguard session and do not pass the swim test, your program registration fees will be refunded in full. However, the processing fee is not refunded. No refunds will be issued for failure to attend a swim test.
WHEN ARE THE TRYOUT DATES?
You can register for any test/time prior to the beginning of your session. See below for links to dates/times.

Two Week Sessions Resident - $187.50 Non-Resident - $197.50
Junior Guard Aide fees Resident - $12.50 Non-Resident - $17.50
Junior Lifeguards are ages nine to seventeen years. Participants must be at least 9 years of age by the start date of their session, no exceptions. The age groups are generally split into three age groups as follows:
Group A: 13 + years
Group B: 11-12 years
Group C: 9 – 10 years
We allow for participants to join other groups (with their friends/family) if they request to do so on the first day.
